About Liebhaber & Company

We're  based in San Diego, California, where we make bows by hand, restore antique bows, and have rehaired  and maintained thousands of bows from student models to bows owned by international soloists. Our hard-earned knowledge as bowmakers informs every purchase recommendation we make. We aim to share that with you. The market for bows is large: quality and price do not always match, especially with more economical choices.  Our emphasis is on well-made and rehairable  bows made from sustainable woods or synthetic materials that hold up to daily practice, climate variations, and life on the road, making them a simple choice for students, teachers, and professionals alike. It's our goal to help you find the ideal bow at a fair price.

Three Brands We Trust

We carry three of the industry’s most trusted bow makers: CodaBow (USA), known for versatile carbon-fiber bows for every level; Arcus (Germany), prized by professionals for precision-engineered composite rods; and NuBow, built on sustainable, rehairable materials for players who want an eco-conscious choice without compromising tone.

Three professional violinists.
Three different styles.

We asked these musicians to use a CodaBow Diamond GX as their main bow for two weeks. Their experiences speak for themselves:

“Every professional orchestral musician should have a synthetic bow of some kind, I don’t think anyone is too good to have one."

Kenneth Liao

“This felt like an upgrade from the bow that I’ve been using…I sorta felt like I immediately sounded better."
