Kenneth Liao, originally from Maryland, joined the San Diego Symphony in 2019. He began learning the violin at the age of eight, though he originally hoped to play the cello like his older brother. He holds degrees from both the University of Southern California and The Juilliard School, and is a former member of the Royal Swedish Opera (Kungliga Hovkapellet) in Stockholm, Sweden.
Kenneth loves his Diamond GX bow, and performs on it often at the symphony and for chamber music. He appreciates its polished, warm sound and the consistency it provides, even through dramatic changes in humidity.
